The Saffer House
Interior Design II
For this semester-long project, I was to design and decorate a home for the Saffer family based off a client description that I was provided. This assignment helped strengthen my abilities in all areas of Interior Design and I look forward to projects like this in the future for real clients!
In the beginning of this project I tried two different routes of planning out the space. The left column is Route 1 and the right column is Route 2.
Here, my two routes came together to develop this Blocking Plan
These are my two Preliminary Plans
This is my Final Refined Floor plan. This plan features a Master Suite with a Master Bath and large walk-in closet. It also has a 5 foot diameter circle in the shared full-bath and the Girls' Room for when Mrs. Saffer's mother eventually moves in and might need to use a wheelchair.
These are images of the 3D to scale model I made of the Saffer House out of foam core and mat board. This part of the project really helped get a good view and idea of how the floorpan would actually work and flow.
Mrs. Saffer wanted a trendy style with lots of color. She also was concerned of having things looking dirty due to having children in the house and their two dogs. I made sure to pick colors and fabrics that hide dirt well. I pulled a lot of my inspiration from the Netherlands since that is the Saffer's favorite travel destination.
